Creve Coeur, Mo., 10/2/2005--Temperatures in the low 80s and a Hawaiian theme greeted Arc families as they arrived at Creve Coeur Park for the annual Arc in the Park picnic on Oct.1st. In addition to opportunities to catch up with old friends--and network with the new--the crowd of about 450 people feasted on hamburgers, hotdogs, brats, various side dishes, and the huge assortment of desserts provided by attendees.
Decorations and activities included a limbo and hula hoop contest, two piñatas, a lei craft table, a Hawaiian photo dress-up booth, and a frame making table. Additional entertainment was donated by: Magician Larry Minth, Clown Irv Sprous, Balloon Artist Mr. Zip, DJ Earl Mangrum and Face Painters Andrea Lakebrink and Meghan Stewart. The residents and staff of the Dautel circle also organized a successful bake sale to benefit their new book club.
A big thank you goes out to the newly formed St. Louis Arc Family Organization which co-sponsored the picnic and staffed the registration table, food lines and beverage area; to Fitz’s Bottling Company and Bob Gunthner, who provided Fitz’s rootbeer floats; and to Dierberg’s, who donated the other beverages.
“My children make Arc in the Park a very big deal. They marked the calendar early,” said Arc parent Lili Tsao. “We all had lots of fun.” Next year’s picnic is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, 2006.
