St. Louis Arc Celebrates Grand Opening - Posted on 10/4/2010

The St. Louis Arc was thrilled to welcome several hundred special people to our recent Centene Family Center Grand Opening.  We offered building tours and family-friendly activities like dancing, face-painting and clowns.  Our participants, families, friends and supporters also enjoyed refreshments and taking part in a special program celebrating the official opening of our new home.

After a pom-pom squad got the crowd fired up, parent Cindy Pennington kicked off the program with comments about how the Arc has helped her entire family since the birth of her daughter Taylor.   Former Board President Mike Lackey explained to our guests about the painstaking construction and remodeling process that took place as we got the building ready for families.  Kathy Meath then unveiled the new St. Louis Arc flag and there was lots of cheering and clapping as Arc employee Bryan Miller helped Kathy raise the flag over our new home.

"This new Family Center is for the thousands of people we support each year," said Meath.  "It's a place where they can come for support, for services and to network with other families.  We welcome them all:  this is a place that was built just for them."

The St. Louis Arc Centene Family Center features an advocacy library, an adapttive playroom for children with developmental disabilities and plenty of meeting space for special events and workshops.  It's located at 1177 N. Warson Road in Creve Coeur.  If you weren't able to make it to the Grand Opening, we hope that you'll stop by soon!
